We regret to inform you that a staff member of the Waynoka Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. Waynoka Public Schools will be working directly with the Woodward County Health Department to determine the risk of exposure and the individuals that may have been in contact of this employee. Once that has been determined those individuals will need to quarantine for the mandatory time set by the Woodward County Health Department. All individuals will have to be cleared by the Woodward County Health Department in order to return to school.
If you or your child is deemed a close contact, the Woodward County Health Department will be attempting to contact you by telephone to discuss quarantine guidelines and dates. Quarantine keeps someone who has been in close contact with an individual who has COVID-19 away from others. Health Department staff will determine the dates your child will need to quarantine. Your child should stay home 24/7 and monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. Family and roommates should practice social distancing within the home. If symptoms develop, your child should isolate from others and seek testing to confirm COVID-19. Please note that a negative test result during one’s quarantine does not rule out the risk of testing positive later on in the quarantine, nor does it release an individual from quarantine.
Waynoka Public Schools will now follow the Yellow Guidelines found in the Return to Learn Plan, starting Wednesday September 16, as outlined under the Waynoka Public School Color Coded Chart. Masks will be required in certain areas and will be provided upon entry of the building to students and staff who do not have one.
